Mauritius Scoops “World’s Best Island Destination” at the 2010 World Travel Awards

Mauritius was crowned the world’s best island destination during the 2010 World Travel Awards, the tourism equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards (The Oscars).

It was a fierce competition this year, with other islands (e.g. Seychelles, Maldives, Cook Islands...etc) competing for the crown, but we came on top after thousand of tourism professionals and tourists from all around the world voted for us.

We’d like to thank all those who voted and supported us; we’d also like to thank the 30,000 individuals working in the tourism sector in Mauritius. We wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for you.

Here’s our own Dr Karl Mootoosamy (middle), Director General of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority receiving the award from Mr Graham Cooke, President and Founder of World Travel Awards.
